In early December, while attempting to cross Hawley Road in front of his Vevay Township home, then-9 year old Brenden Scott was hit by a car.  Things did not look good.  Family says he had a 1% chance of survival.  His recovery has been nothing short of a miracle, and today -- the day he came home from the hospital, was nothing short of special.

Ingham County Sheriff's deputies gave Brenden a police escort to his home, after he was presented with a very special honor, being named Sheriff For The Day.

Video was rolling as the police cruisers pulled up to a crowd of friends and family waiting for his arrival home.  As Brenden, who celebrated his tenth birthday in the hospital, is helped out of the cruiser, the viewer hears mentioned that Brenden's favorite radio station is 88.1.  In the Lansing area, 88.1 is known as "Smile FM."  Moments later, everyone really was smiling, posing together for a celebratory photo that some thought might never happen.
