Tequila Cowboy opened in the Lansing Mall in late 2015; a place whose atmosphere karaoke patrons said made performers feel like stars. It was also a place where actual stars did perform. Just last weekend, Tucker Beathard played. 100.7 WITL
afternoon host, Chris Tyler, recalls in a Tuesday evening post on the station's website, some of the big talent that has taken the Tequila stage. Among them, Joe Nichols, Kip Moore and Phil Vassar. Moore was the star of the Wittle County Christmas Party one year.
While there is much buzz about an April 2nd closing, the Tequila Cowboy website promotes "Throwback Thursdays" with DJ JD beginning May 31st. But even "DJ JD" J.D. Larner wrote on Facebook
, "Yes the Rumors are true. Tequila Cowboy will be closing in 2 weeks. Come party for next 2 weeks with DJ.JD. Also if you know of any bars needing a DJ. Let me know."
Still, there are events on the books between now and April 2nd. A tribute to the late Randy Hagle, Haglefest, will be held on March 24th. Josh Phillips plays March 29th.
