Sheriff’s Officials believe the same individual may have been involved in a car crash that occurred on Barnes & Edgar roads sometime before 6am. The crashed vehicle belonged to the same man.
A phone message was sent to the immediate area using the Capital Area Ingham County Alert system advising residents to lock their doors and report any suspicious activity, and a wider radius was sent email and text messages to avoid the area.
An extensive search was conducted by the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Michigan State Police, Eaton County Sheriff’s Office, Mason Police, and the Leslie Police. In addition, the Ingham Regional Special Response Team (SRT) made up of ICSO, MSU PD, East Lansing Police, and Meridian Township Police were called in along with the Lansing Police Department’s Special Tactics and Rescue Team (START.) We would not have been able to perform this search without their assistance, along with the Delhi Township Fire Department who supported medical needs.
This was an exhaustive search that included more than 50 Law Enforcement personnel. There is no reason to believe that the subject is still in the area, and residents do not have any known immediate threats to safety, which also is the case for schools in the area. Any residents who evacuated their homes early can return.
The individual has been identified as 33-year old Eddie Rockwell, Jr. of Onondaga, MI. The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone that has information regarding his location to call the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office at 517-676-2431."
