On January 12-13 Olympic Weightlifters from Blackhearts B.C. in Owosso competed in the CANUSA Championships in Detroit.
The competition featured over 110 of the best weightlifters, both men and women from Canada, Michigan, Ohio and Florida over a two day tournament.

Cole Szakal, a Durand native and current CMU bio-medical student continued his push to the university national championships as he successfully completed all of his 6 lifts (3 snatches and 3 clean & jerks). His total of 215kg (474lbs) was good enough for him to take 2nd place in the 81kg weight class.

Brianna Carroll from Ovid, who also owns Fitness Coliseum in Owosso ended her day hitting 5/6 lifts for a 143kg (315lbs) total narrowly taking bronze in the 76kg weight class.

Casey Lambert, the owner head coach of Blackhearts BC took silver in the 109kg weight class with a total of 246kg (543lbs) on 5/6 lifts.
