Nate Miller said he had no exact plan as to the direction his career would go when he was approached with the opportunity to coach Lansing's new pro soccer team, saying "in life you just have to prepare so that when an opportunity is there you've done everything possible to take it, and I'm taking it with open arms."

In an historic announcement, Nate Miller was revealed as the USL League One Lansing Ignite Football Club inaugural head coach.

The new professional league will kick off play in 2019.

Miller built a track record at Spring Arbor University as coach of the men's team, and that's what inspired then-Lansing United's CEO and President, Jeremy Sampson, to invite him to serve as that program's second head coach in its history.

Sampson, now Lansing Ignite's VP and GM, said that's what he was looking for for this program, but he also told those gathered at The View at Cooley Law School stadium for Wednesday morning's announcement, that the program needed someone community oriented who understood Lansing and the team.

Before Spring Arbor, Miller was Assistant Coach at Taylor University, where he was also a standout player.
