There are some city residents west of 127 that apparently will not be impacted, because the substation that provides power to those customers is not part of the planned outage. Impacted customers are supposed to have received notification via mail, email or text. Some customers, however, say they received no notification and that the outage is a surprise.

Meanwhile, Michigan State Police is warning residents of likely widespread and lengthy power outages as the result of a storm moving into the area late Saturday night, impacting most of the state through Sunday night.  For the Lansing area both snow and wind are concerns.

If Consumers is unable to complete what it says are improvements to future electric service during the planned February 24th outage, a backup date and time of Sunday March 3rd beginning at 2am is scheduled.
