State Representative Ben Frederick shared some thoughts with Lansing Integrity on the heels of Governor Whitmer's first State of the State address. Whitmer addressed the legislature on Tuesday night, highlighting a few key priorities: roads, water and education.

Frederick said "I was appreciative of the Governor's repeated call for bipartisan cooperation and collaboration throughout the speech.

I was particularly delighted to hear her champion the goal of 60% postsecondary credential attainment (to include technical training) within our workforce by 2030. While this is an aggressive goal, it is one which is very worthwhile for our state and I look forward to working across the aisle to assist with this and other important priorities."

Whitmer's speech was conceptually well-received, but many asked questions about how she aims to accomplish fixing the damn roads, ensuring clean drinking water for all Michiganders ("or Michiganians, for those of you who insist") and improving the state's poor test scores while creating new, free community college opportunities.

Whitmer also addressed LGBTQ equality and FOIA expansion.
